Binker Materialschutz GmbH (Binker Protection of Materials Ltd.) delivers and installs automatically working Nitrogen fumigation chambers in museums to eradicate museum pests infesting delicate artefacts. The chambers are loaded with the infested exhibits and objects to start the fumigation process.
Loophole, N2-chamber, technical equipment and evaluation software according to the museum needs
The non-toxic fumigation gas Nitrogen purged into the chamber is generated on-site from ambient air using nitrogen generators. Our on-site gas systems supplies museums with a turn-key system that consisted of feed air compressor, air preparation such as air dryer, tanks, the Nitrogen generator and required flow meters and valves for control. The climate (temperature and relative humidity) inside the chamber is conditioned electronically to avoid alteration or deterioration of the artefacts to be fumigated. At the end of exposure time (usually 2 to 8 weeks depending mainly on the target-temperature inside the fumigation facility) the chambers are aerated risklessly and are ready to be loaded again.
Adantage of our Nitrogen-chamber systems: Often museums are using cylinder gas which means that they would have to constantly monitor gas levels in the cylinders, change out cylinders when they were empty and cart cylinders from the loading dock to the chamber as point of use. This appears to pose a significant occupational health and safety risk to the museum staff, is inconvenient, time consuming and finally expensive. These disadvantages are being avoided when installing our fumigation system! Switching to our on-site Nitrogen generation will reduce the museum’s inert gas costs in the region of 80-90% as well as the other benefits to which a value cannot be put. |
